In the last few decades, the Internet has spread rapidly and widely.

From among a number of the latest technologies, the Internet has been undoubtedly the most intimately related technology to our lives.

Its usage and advancement are remarkable, and today, the Internet has become an integral part of one's life.

Given these circumstances, we must be fully aware of the benefits and drawbacks of the Internet as follows.

The Internet helps people to do things faster and more efficiently.

With the Internet connection, you can work from everywhere, even from home or café. (This is the working style so-called "remote/tele-working" which saves commute time and related fees.)

Moreover, the use of the Internet allows increased ways to communicate with others any time at any place via various tools including email and SNSs.

Although the advancement of the Internet has its benefits, it is not all rainbows and butterflies.

The number of Internet-related crimes is increasing year after year. Also the scale of those crimes is getting larger, which result in severe economic loss.

Internet addiction disorder (IAD) is also a huge social issue. In the past few years, IAD has become very frequent, leading people to social isolation, loss of jobs, and poor school and job performance.

New technology does have its drawbacks. Nevertheless, I believe that most people in Japan will not hope to return to the life before technology.

Japan is inventor and innovator in times both past and present and also in the future, and now, cutting-edge technology is integrated into everyday life in Japan. Therefore, it is hard to imagine that people in Japan hope their lives return to the lives before technology.
